Father's Day

We have had a wonderful Father's Day today! I actually took my camera to church today and while Adam was working I got someone to get the camera ready and I got the girls and snapped a picture really quick, that's why it is not the best but I am just glad we all got a picture! :) Adam is super super busy on Sundays but it is not a big deal because he gets to spend Fridays with us!

These are the pictures I took of the girls for Adam's gift.

Notice Annabelle in the baby's bumbo and the baby's lounger seat thingy. She is so funny. That is the only way I could even get her to sit down to take a picture. It was not the best or happiest photo shoot ever but I don't know what I should expect from a 6 month and a 21 month old! :) We did the best we could Adam! I also made this cookie cake for Adam because he loooves cookie cake.

and this is the gift I made for him. I gave him this to put in his office because he doesn't have an pictures of the whole family at the office.

Annabelle made this card for her daddy last week. Annabelle loves her daddy so much! One of my favorite times of day is when Adam gets home from work and Annabelle runs to the door saying, "daddy, daddy."

I took this picture after Adelyn woke up from her 3 hour nap (yep that's right!) She is most definitely a daddy's girl too!

I couldn't help but think of last years father's day and how small Annabelle was and how life has changed in such a great way since then with the addition of Adelyn to our family.

I am so thankful for you Adam and what an amazing daddy you are to the girls and what an example of how to follow God you are to them even at such a young age. I cannot tell you how much it means to me that you make our family time a priority. I love you!

I am also thankful for my own daddy. We have gotten to spend some great time together recently. Me and my dad just have an understanding about us; it is like we share the same heart and passions for certain things and in a way I feel like no one understands me better than he does. Thank you daddy for being such a wonderful example of Christ to me. I love you and miss you dearly!

I love this picture of my dad and me not because it is the best picture but because it reminds me of all the times he drove to Ouachita to support me in things. I appreciate all all of those drives more than he knows.

I think this is my all time favorite picture of me and my daddy. It just brings up so many wonderful memories.

Happy Father's Day!

Our Engagement Story

It was our nine month anniversary, yes we used to have a month anniversary every month. :) Anyway, it was revival at our church and Adam was on staff so I assumed he would go and then we could celebrate that weekend or just later that night but he said he wanted to "skip" revival and take me on a date instead. So, we went to Carrabba's and it was so yummy and then we went to TCBY. All of this was just typical for us. Well, I take that back, Adam was on a college intern salary so we did not go out to nice restaurants all that often but this was not extremely out of the ordinary.

After dinner, Adam told me that he wanted to take me to Cameron Brown park in Memphis and we could just look at the stars because that is what we did the first night we ever hung out. I did say something about it being kind of cold that particular night but I did not think anything about it really.

Well, this is what I saw when we pulled up.

I actually said to Adam, "Aww, somebody must be doing something special tonight." He said, "yeah maybe so." and we walked down this path with candles and you cannot see them in the picture but there were flowers lining the walk way as well. When we got to the end of the bridge to where we would ususally cross to go to the spot we liked to sit at there was this table and when I saw it I knew what was about to happen.

Adam had set up a cd player that was playing "On a Night Like This" by Dave Barnes and other love songs but this is the one that was playing when we walked up. Adam was soo nervous he forgot to get down on one knee but he did ask me to marry him and I was shocked because I did not pick out the ring or anything.

Of course I said, "YES!" and we were soo excited! I think Adam did such an amazing job with my ring! I was sooo proud of him. He could not aford a huge rock but I did not and do not care at all! I wouldn't trade my ring for anything in the world because I know he spent lots of time picking it out just for me and he really picked something I love!

We were so excited! We called everyone we knew!

Also, we have the pictures and a video that I need to get on here. Adam said it was on an external hard drive at his work. Anyway, he had our friends Landon and Jess (Kaylee's mommy) there filming and taking pictures but I did not know until after he had proposed! So fun! Great job Adam!!

Our "real" engagement pictures are copyrighted so here are so other pictures we took at the beach while we were engaged.

I love you Adam and I'm so proud of you for going all out for our engagement! It is definitly a night I will never ever forget!

hilarious!

Today we went to the Bunny Park in Dublin. I love this park a lot; it is like the water park we went to in Memphis except there is always a TON of people there. We only stayed a little while but Annabelle had a blast and I actually got a little bit of much needed sun on my body. :)

I have noticed in the 18 months I have lived in Ohio that moms here do not dress there little girls up like moms do in the south. For example, bow are not a big deal at all, to see a little girl with a bow on is a rarity around here. My family then sticks out like a sore thumb (ok, maybe not like a sore thumb but sticks out like something better like a pretty flower in the midst of weeds :) ) Wait, not that Ohio people are weeds because they are not at all. We are just different, one is not better than the other just different. I hope you get my point without me being offensive. ANYWAY, all this to say, Annabelle is at this park in a tutu bathing suit with a bow on...yeah, she got some funny looks but I thought she looked absolutely adorable!

I hung out with Adelyn on the towel most of the time.

Look at that smile

When we got home, Adam was holding Adelyn in his lap and Annabelle just jumped in his lap too and just kept hugging and kissing Adelyn. It was so sweet!

Ok, now to the title of the post. This morning when we put on the girls bathing suits I noticed that Annabelle's was a little tight and Adelyn's was loose but I just thought I had gotten Annabelle an 18 month and since she is almost 21 months that she was already growing out of it and I thought I had gotten Adelyn a big size so she could grow into it. So, a few minutes ago I was hanging up the wet bathing suits to dry and noticed that the pink bathing suit (the one Annabelle was wearing) is a 9 month bathing suit and the yellow one (Adelyn was wearing) is a 18-24 month suit! The funny thing is that Annabelle wore the 9 month one well! ha! How funny! I seriously feel like I am crazy sometimes! I'm sure all mommies do sometimes :)

I wanted to document for myself and for those who have asked what all we are doing for Adelyn that I think is making a difference for her. First, I am putting her on her tummy to sleep. The GI doctor informed me that you NEVER put a reflux baby on their back to sleep. Who knew? I thought all babies were supposed to sleep on their backs but the doctor explained that this makes the reflux worse. I believe this is why she has had the most trouble at night. She said the options were to put them on their left side (because the left side is supposed to help with digestion) or their stomach (but she couldn't officially suggest that, we all know why.) We also started putting her on a sleep wedge with two positioners on the sides. I feel like the slight incline helps her keep her food down better. Second, we are adding oatmeal to every single bottle. Adelyn was intolerant to rice. Adleyn's bottles are supposed to be the consistency of mustard in order to help her keep her food down. They suggested a tbsp per ounce but we found that that makes Adelyn extremely constipated so we do not do add that much oatmeal. Third, we keep her upright for at least 30 minutes after she eats in order to help her digest her food. It helps that she sits up now! Forth, we give her Prevacid in the mornings and we give it to her and then wait thirty minutes to give her her bottle. This has helped her dramatically!! Also, we give her Zantac at night before she goes to sleep. Fifth, Adelyn gets constipated often. It is almost as if her whole digestive tract just does not work exactly right just yet, so, we give her a glycerin suppository if she has not had a bowel movement in two days. This gives her drastic relief when she needs it. Constipation associated with gas is and was most definitely one of the issues that caused the sleeping problems but is better now that we know better how to handle it. This is all I can think of at the moment but I know there is more. If I think of more I will be sure to write it. I really hope something in this list helps you reflux mommies out there that have contacted me. I appreciate your support so much! God bless you and your sweet babies!

Our Memphis Visit #4

This is my last Memphis post. :( I am sad just because I love all my friends and family in Memphis so much but again I know we live here in Ohio to win people to Christ and what could be better than being in the center of God's will for your life!

On Thursday, my mom, Mrs. Jen, me, Annabelle, and Adleyn went to this free water park in Collierville. It was so neat and Annabelle just loved it. We were there a while and then my precious friend Audrey met us there with her two kiddos. I absolutely adore Audrey. Both of our husbands are in the ministry; We had kids at the same time and then both got pregnant again at the same time so our kiddos are 14 months apart. Needless to say, we have LOTS to talk about seeing as our lives are basically the same only we live in different states. Don't you just love friends like that!

Me, Adelyn, Annabelle, Jack, Jovie, and Audrey

Annabelle and Jack and they are even matching, how cute! We gave them a snack so they would sit there while we took pictures. They were so cute; it was like they knew each other were there but they didn't acknowledge each other at all.

Annabelle and her sweet skinny legs

I took this picture because she is obsessed with colors these days and one of the first things she did when we got there was to go around and point at all the things and try to say their color.

On Thursday afternoon, me and the girls went to my mom's best friend, Carolyn's house to play with her granddaughter and Annabelle had her first tea party experience. She was so funny. She kept spilling it everywhere. :)

but she LOVED it! We are going to have to have a mommy, Annabelle tea party soon!

Later that afternoon we went to my dad and Anita's house. They have a beautiful graden and we decided to see if we could get some pictures of the girls with the pretty flowers.

Annabelle really like the piano at their house. She also really enjoyed playing with my brother! He is so good with the girls! I even got him to change Adleyn's clothes on day for me!

Adleyn got really fussy and I just knew it was her teeth that were bothering her and Anita had some frozen washclothes in her freezer from having her surgery and so she pulled one out and Adleyn went to town! Great idea for teeething!!

After this we went back to the Fishers, the girls got their last bath from Marmie and I packed the car for our long drive home. Hmmm... how do I describe the trip home?! In two words, "not smart." I will not be driving to Memphis by myself with the girls for a long time, not until Adleyn can at least face forward and take snacks but overall I'm still glad I went! It was such a wonderful trip! Thanks Memphis for being such a great place to call home!
