well, today we tried Annabelle in a big girl bed. here is the story....
i know she is totally ready to be out of her crib because she just screams in it so much. there are like 8 million things we have to do for her before she will go in her crib etc.....sooo....I got Adam to vacuum our extra twin mattress and decided we would put it on her room to try out for nap time. HUGE MISTAKE. i told her if she opened the door she would be punished and of course the curious toddler opened the door a total of 4 times before the time that she went in and woke up her sister from her nap.
i know this is partly my fault because I need to have some way for her not to get out of her room. soo back to the drawing board....i wish their were written instructions God could give for each child specifically.....

Not everyone is going to agree with this, but it worked for me. Take one of the child doorknob locks and stick it on the inside so she can't open the door.
we put a baby gate up for the first few months!! worked wonders!
Try leaving the door open and putting a baby gate in front of the door...that way, she can still see out, but she's also still trapped in her room.
I know how you feel! Ha! ( found you through twitter...it told me we were "similar" so I thought I'd see. I have two girls also...so that's a start!) we recently put our youngest in a big girl bed, but fortunately she doesn't know how to turn the door knobs yet. =)
Good Luck! I used a baby gate with the door open. She did not feel closed in and alone but she could not wander thru the house.
Ashley....the only way we could get Macy to stay in her big girl bed at first was to put a baby gate up at her door and leave the door open. She would stand at it only a couple of times and cry but did great after that! Give it a try!
