Life is a Collection of Celebrations

Let’s talk about birthdays. Of all my favorite things, birthdays might just be my most favorite.

The other night, Adam asked me on a date what my favorite childhood memory was, and without hesitation, I said, my birthdays. The magic, the cake, the feeling that for one day, the world celebrated you; it was pure joy.
And naturally, this means I make a pretty big deal out of my kiddos’ special days too. It doesn’t have to be fancy or expensive—just something they truly enjoy, a day that’s all about them.

One of my favorite traditions? Giving them the option to stay home and spend the day with me. And more often than not, they take it! In a big family, that uninterrupted one-on-one time is rare and so special. Those moments together are what I cherish most.
I’ve also started making them birthday books—yearly snapshots with pictures and little descriptions of how they celebrated. One day, it’ll be fun to see if any of them love birthdays as much as I do. (Though, let’s be honest… that’s a pretty high bar!)

Here I am at 3. All I can think about is how much I must have loved that earrings and necklace set. :)

And me at my five year Barbie party…by far one of my favorites!

So, consider this post a confetti-filled, candle-lit tribute to birthdays—the ultimate reminder that life is a collection of celebrations, and every year is a gift.

What’s your favorite birthday memory?
