I am finishing "Kisses from Katie." What an amazing book. I just loved this prayer. I love how Katie has a special place in her heart for children and I think it's neat that we (believers) are God's children and therefore God has a special place for us in His heart, in the same way I have a special place in my heart for my girls. When I read this prayer, my mind is flooded or more like bombarded by thoughts all of the hurting people I know of in my life. We cannot all move to Uganda but we can look around us and have compassion on those who cross our paths daily who are hurting or in need. Oh how our God must hurt for His children.
The predominate thought to me in this prayer is that my God is a God of love and compassion. It is who He IS and not just what He DOES. (Beth Moore) And as His children, made in His image we are to BE love and compassion to everyone we come in contact with but especially those we know are hurting or in need. It is how the world knows we are His. (1 John.)
Lord, "Help me to never be too busy or too comfortable to remember the people who are suffering."
"Bear one another's burdens." Galatians 6:2
"God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them."
1 John 4:16
"Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God." 1 John 4:7
"Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble."
1 Peter 3:8
