ENDURANCE

Endurance- steadfastness, constancy, (Interlinear Bible)
The act, quality, or power of withstanding hardship or stress (The Free Dictionary)

Endurance is mentioned in Paul's prayer in Colossians 1:11-12. It says, "May you be strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, giving thanks to God the Father who qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in light."

Have you ever been through a trial you thought or felt like might never end? I have.

In the New Testament, ENDURANCE is the characteristic of a person who is unswered from their deliberate purpose and loyalty to faith and piety by even the greatest trials and sufferings. (Interlinear Greek Bible)

Endurance is not something we can muster up on our own. There is no way a person in and of themselves can stay "unswered." God alone gives us this power, according to His glorious might.

I was so enamored by this concept and in dire need of this 'power to withstand hardship and stress' this week that by the leading of the Spirit I went through all of the scripture that included this same greek word 'hupomone' or endurance and this is what I found....

But the seed in the good soil, these are the ones who have heard the word in an honest and good heart, and hold it fast, and bear fruit with endurance
Luke 8:15

Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us... Hebrews 12:1

Be assured and understand that the trial and proving of your faith bring out endurance and steadfastness and patience. But let endurance and steadfastness and patience have full play and do a thorough work, so that you may be [people] perfectly and fully developed [with no defects], lacking in nothing. James 1:3-4

You know how we call those blessed (happy) who were steadfast [who endured]. You have heard of the endurance of Job, and you have seen the Lord’s [purpose and how He richly blessed him in the] end, inasmuch as the Lord is full of pity and compassion and tenderness and mercy. James 5:11

By your steadfastness and patient endurance you shall win the true life of your souls. Luke 21:19

These are only some of the treasures found in scripture about endurance. I thought it noteworthy that the book of the bible having the most mentions of this word was Revelation. I draw from that fact, that the closer we come to the time of Christ's return, christians are going to have to learn to endure through some very difficult things, no debate about it.

I'm not for one second saying it's easy but Praise God we can ENDURE through Him, the one who has all power at His fingertips and can do immeasurably more than we can ask or think through His power at work within us! (Eph 4:20)
