The More4Orphans Summit

The More4Orphans Summit was so amazing tonight. The key speaker Wes Stafford, the president of Compassion International spoke on the very verses that were on my heart this morning from Isaiah 58 (hence the picture above!) It was a moment for me for sure when Mr. Stafford said he was preaching from that passage.

Also, James 1:27 was discussed a lot as I'm sure you can imagine it would be at an orphan event. James 1:27 says,"Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you."

I learned this week, the Beth Moore studying leading me to this passage and then studying it on my own that orphans and widows were the two groups of people in the day James was written that were severely overlooked and often times mistreated and really the same is true today but also today other "people groups" are just as severely oppressed, mistreated, and afflicted and so we cannot limit this passage to orphans and widows but also to human trafficking and injustice in many areas.

I love it that God places a different passion on each person's heart and He does so to accomplish His BIG purpose. The Lord has been really working on my heart on the issue of the oppressed, mistreated, and afflicted and I pray with all my heart He continues to reveal His will to me about the role He wants me to play in this ever so needy ministry.
