Thankful Tuesday

The Lord has been teaching me so much about being thankful. I wrote in my daily journal on 5-15 "I need to spend more time treasuring my blessings and meditating on the goodness and greatness of God. If I did this, I really would be content." This is so true for me. One of Satan's big traps for me is to get me to focus on the things I do not like about my life while neglecting to thank God for the things He has given me and that I love.

"May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you O Lord my rock and my redeemer." Psalm 19:14

The word of God mentions the word "thanks" 111 times in the bible, and thanksgiving 32 times (from the KJV.) I would say that these words are pretty important, wouldn't you? My favorite definition of the word "thanks" that comes from the Hebrew word "yadah" is to shoot with arrows. I hope I am not taking this too far but I see this as a picture of us being so overwhelmed by thankfulness that it shoots out of us to everyone around and back to God.

Another definition from the same word "yadah" of "thanks" is "praise." By thanking God, we are praising Him, worshiping Him with our lives.

Of course, if you know me, you know there is LOTS more to say about this topic, but I promised myself I was going to keep it short (or shorter) today. :)

All of this being said, the Lord really did lay it on my heart to start making lists of things I am thankful for often. Like I said in the beginning, this will help me to take my eyes off of my sometimes somewhat undesirable situation and help me focus on His goodness to me.

I am thankful for:
Good Health
2 beautiful little girls
A husband who loves me dearly
Rich friendships
Spending Easter with the Fulks Sunday
Adelyn is mostly over reflux
I got another good night's sleep last night!
A house that not only meets our needs but our wants
My van! :)
God's never ending grace
His beautiful words to me
Getting to stay home with me kids

See, that was so good for me to focus on what God has given to me. I cannot help but include some of my favorite scriptures on the topic.

Philippians 4:4
Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say REJOICE.

Psalm 100:4
Enter into his gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise: be thankful unto him and bless his name.

Colossians 3:15
And let the peace of God rule your hearts, to which you have been called in one body, and be thankful.

I would love for you to link up or if you don't have a blog, just to comment with things you are thankful for. I would LOVE for anyone to link up and do the same if you would like to!! I feel like by reading or hearing what others are thankful for, it encourages me too! Please don't listen to the "other side" telling you it's dumb or cheesy. Thanking the Lord for what He has done is pleasing to Him and  biblical.

1 Chronicles 16:8
Give thanks unto the Lord, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people!!

Great Post!

I am thankful for:

• Prayer in that I can always speak freely to ask for guidance and blessings
• The people of this Earth in that I can commune with them and no matter where his or her heart lies I still know and can feel that we are all parts of a whole
• The overpowering joy of love and friendship in that it makes this walk less lonely during times when separateness creeps in
• The unabashed Spirit of forgiveness in that forgiveness is giving up the hope of having had a better past and the magic that encircles when you allow it to happen
• God's never ending fires of love that enflame our hearts and burn deep within our Souls to spur us on, even in darkness
• For the dark periods of my life, for without them the beautiful rays of light would not be as bright
• For teachers and their patience and vision to teach us
• For remembrance in that I can see where I have grown, and where I have yet to grow
• For the strength to serve as much in the darkest of nights as I would in the lightest of days
• For the building blocks of wisdom and the keys of knowledge
• For life and all of the hard lessons we can learn from it

The Song of the 144,000

We thank you Father

That you have revealed to us your protective universal light;

That within this light is complete protection from all destructive forces;

That the Holy Spirit of Your Presence permeates us in this light,

And wherever we will the light to descend.

We thank you Father

That you fill us with your protective fires of love;

That within this love is complete protection from all destructive thoughts and feelings;

That the consciousness of Christ is lifted up in us in this love,

And wherever we will the love to be enflamed.

We thank you Father

That You are in us and we are in You;

That through us Your Will is sent forth on wings of power;

That Your Purpose is accomplished on earth as it is in heaven;

That through us Your Light and Love and Power is manifest to all the Sons and Daughters of Mankind.

I am very thankful for my husband. Over the course of the last two years we have grown so much spiritually. This growth towards Christ has taken our love and devotion to one another in our marriage to a completely different level. He truly is my champion, representing Christ's love for me each and every day. Of course then I am thankful for God's sovereign grace that kept Scott and I from dangers that lurked around us during darker days in our past. To HIM be all glory, forever and ever.
