To homeschool..... to send to public school...... I wish there was an option to send them to private school as well but it is just too expensive as of right now.
I can already see that there are disadvantages and advantages to every option.
Why do you/ did you school the way you did? ........ Just curious

Monday afternoon, my mom sent a package! The girls played and played with it. :)
My sweet friend Tammy gave us some Easter chocolate candies that she molded. We also enjoyed those on Monday!
Today, we went to the library for an hour and half! The girls really enjoyed it so we just stayed and stayed.
Today, God answered a HUGE prayer request of mine....to go into details would be silly but it meant a lot to me. It was something that I had purposefully not stressed out about even though it was "stress out able" situation.
I don't know if this will make sense to anyone but it reminds me a bit of how our diaper changes have been going with Adelyn these days. She absolutely HATES to get her diaper changed. See, she has had a HORRIBLE Diaper rash and so she freaks out. Either way her diaper is going to get changed, whether she freaks out or not. Either way, it is for her ultimate good but it always, without fail breaks my heart when those real tears flow from a diaper change.
I know this is probably a crazy comparison, but I wonder if God feels that way about us. Either way, the same outcome is going to happen and it is going to be for our good. It is our choice if we want to calmly approach the painful situation or we can scream and kick and be mad at God and make it so much harder on us and make God sad in the process.
Just thinking...

Ashley- You're not the only contemplating the school decision. I have several friends/family currently going through the same thing. I'll tell you what I told them. Its different for every family. However, if it were my child, I would send them to school... and my degree is early childhood education! There is just so much they gain from the school setting that you don't get at home or even church or play dates. They need the social challenge. They need to learn how to solve problems, get along with different types of people, learn to submit to authority, be a team player, yet independent... I could go on and on. I teach Jr. K so I guess I am biased. The pro's to homeschooling can still be accomplished even if your child is in school. I would still work with my child and disciple them.. which is our purpose anyway. I would use the situations they deal with at school as prime teaching opportunities. I actually went to public school up until 9th grade and then finished my high school years homeschooling. I enjoyed it while I did it, but I do feel that I missed out on a lot. Like I stated before, it will all depend on the family. Every family is different. Not everyone is capable of doing this and doing it well.You have to be organized and disciplined and having more than one child also adds a new complexity to the situation.Its very rewarding, but its exhausting and frustrating to teach little ones. I know that my role as mom and wife would be greatly effected if I tried to home school my own kids. You know whats best for your family though and what you're capable of. I didn't mean to write a book! I can't wait to hear what you decide though.
Well, I am no expert but I feel I have been around the block on this issue. :) After attending public school and then a Christian college, I have taught at a public school, online charter school, substitute taught in our local public school where our girls attended and now we are homeschooling. Each and every experience has been rich and rewarding for me as a mother and teacher, and even for our family. How I felt at the beginning of my "career" is pretty different than how I feel now. It has been a journey. You must remember, it will be a journey for you too. There are so many angles, situations, scenarios, personalities, learning styles, belief systems to consider. You get my point when I am trying to say there is no right or wrong answer. You are allowed to grow and change in your thoughts and views about schooling. Just keep praying and seeking Him, which I know is the desire of your heart...and your desire for your precious baby girls. They belong to HIM! He will direct "their" path!
Furthermore, I would love to talk to you more about things I have learned through my experiences if you think it would help you but I can't fill up anymore of your comment space. :) Hahahaha!!

I agree with Candace! It's different for each family. You just have to listen to what God wants you to do. I believe in putting them in school because I believe that they need to learn to get out in the world and stand strong in their Christian principle (which is our job). Christian school is a great choice. However, schools are excellent here where we live that it is better than the private school. I am not sure about yours but from what I heard they got excellent rating as well. I know I am not organize enough to homeschool and not called to do so.
Thus said, I never send them to preschool because I believe on the "critical age of learning".... It is Super important that you impose the Christian value now while they are very young...

You are so smart to start thinking about schooling choices now while your kids are young and you have plenty of time to research and weigh your options. I have a degree in elementary education (K-8) and we have chosen to homeschool our kids. Many factors led to our decision and, as Cara said, it has been a journey. I spent countless hours reading books, researching options, and talking to other moms. We are wrapping up our third year of homeschooling and each year I am more convinced that we made the right choice for our family. I do not believe that the pros of homeschooling can be accomplished if your child is in school because then it is not a pro of homeschooling. If God calls you to homeschool you will be capable of doing it, and doing it well. If you are interested in hearing more about our journey I'd be happy to share with you what we have learned and how we ultimately arrived at the decision to homeschool.
