Adam and I have the privilege of leading worship at an event in April called Girl Talk. A group of awesome high school girls had the vision of having an event where girls could come to learn about purity, unite in Christ over the topic of purity, sing about purity, etc. You get it.
I was so excited when they asked us to do worship for this event. This is such a dear topic to me, not only because of things I have been through in my own life but also because I see purity as being a major issue in teens today. I think mostly because the world is screaming, "You don't have to be pure! It's ok. Every body is doing it!" I know that may sound cheesy but you know that it is true. So much more to say on that but I'll stop there.
I have been praying so much about this event. I knew the Lord wanted me to take a step back from leading worship at our church for right now and so I had to ask Him if this was something He really wanted me to do and I got a resounding, "YES" and peace for which I am thankful. Honestly, I have already prayed more for this event than I ever have for an event Adam and I have led worship for. I am not, and I repeat, not saying this for any kind of pat on the back from anyone. It is actually kind of embarrassing because I should have been praying like this for every event and service and I just have not.
God is so good though ya'll. He is always there to give me a second chance and to search and test my heart to show me just how much I need His grace and how I can be more like Him and for that I am so grateful. I know I don't deserve any of it but I pray that feeling of "not deserving something" pales in comparison to focusing on how great God truly is, how His power can literally transform lives and how much He loves me and these girls that are going to be at this event.
I know that God has an agenda and so does Satan with these things. It says so in the bible. So, I am praying that Satan would be bound from the event and any of his distractions he will try to use either to prevent people from going or just distract them while they are there will be completely removed so that God can do a mighty work first in my own heart and life and also in everyone else's involved and that HE MIGHT GET ALL THE GLORY!
I asked the Lord to give me scripture for this event and this is what He gave me. I just love scripture it inevitability speaks to me every time I hear it no.matter.what.
"If you Lord kept a record of sins, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness that you may be reverently feared and worshiped." Psalm 130:3-4
"You are my hiding place, you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance." Psalm 32:7

I Promise, by Jaci Velasquez is a great purity song! I'll be praying for your event. Having two little girls like you, I know the importance and need for an event like this for teenage girls. I'll be thinking about you.
How he lIves us. Is my favorite! I was hoping you guys would play that! Oh I better bring my tissues. Makes me cry all the time .... Also Ashley if i can add, we need (event) help with breakfast food ( bagels, muffins, fruit) and pick up deserts if anyone would like to make! It would be greatly appreciated:) love you Ashley:)
