Rest in Wyoming

Last Wednesday to Friday Adam and I spent some time in Wyoming. We had such a great time. We had some really heavy things going on in our lives and had planned this 'vacation' to recover, spend time with God and each other.
It was absolutely beautiful, just breathe taking! Our phones went in and out of service and so we were pretty much unavailable. It was just a nice time just to relax and refocus and get refreshed.
We stayed at this old western hotel. We went straight from New York to Wyoming so the culture shift was really strange but welcomed by the time we got to Wyoming.
We spent lots of great quality time together in nature and we also got to spend some good time with another ministry couple. We went to the Hot Springs with this couple one night and it was such a blast! It was a natural spring and so the seats were filled with algae and natural things :) It was such a unique and neat experience and we had a great time talking with this couple who was also involved in a church plant.
Adam and I got to sit on the side of the mountains and study and read. God really showed Himself to me though scripture in the little time we were there. One passage that kept going over and over again in my mind was Psalm 23.
 Psalm 23
The Lord is my shepherd;
    I have all that I need.
He lets me rest in green meadows;
    he leads me beside peaceful streams.
    He renews my strength.
He guides me along right paths,
    bringing honor to his name.
Even when I walk
    through the darkest valley,
I will not be afraid,
    for you are close beside me.
Your rod and your staff
    protect and comfort me.
You prepare a feast for me
    in the presence of my enemies.
You honor me by anointing my head with oil.
    My cup overflows with blessings.
Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me
    all the days of my life,
and I will live in the house of the Lord
The leaves were already turning so it was the perfect time to be there
And there were deer everywhere!

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.]
Matthew 11:28

We are so thankful for this opportunity to get away and rest through Shepherd's Haven of Rest Ministries. It is a ministry that provides completely free week of lodging and food for couples in the ministry and the only thing you are required to pay is travel expenses. We saw what a blessing this type of ministry is in so many ways. There were hurting couples, couples that just needed a break, and/or couples that needed a fresh perspective. Praise God for the people that support this ministry and for the Grigsbys for running it.

And He said to them,
"Come away by yourselves to a secluded place and rest a while."
Mark 6:31
