Waiting for the Lord

My girls so often remind me of how I am in my relationship with Christ. Yesterday, one of the girls woke up on the wrong side of the bed and nothing I did for her was good enough or fast enough. She wanted a drink but didn't want to wait, she wanted a blanket but had a tantrum because it was upstairs and took more than 3 seconds to get it.
I so often act like this with God. Just like my daughter, I throw a fit without waiting patiently for Him, causing me extra stress and anxiety and breaking His heart in the process. I know waiting is not easy for anyone but I also know that with God, it is ALWAYS worth it.

Just like I want the very best for my children, even more so God wants the best for me and this is the reason He makes me wait. I am not "being mean" by not giving my girls what they want when they want it but actually looking out for their best interest and the same is true for God with me. But in both cases, it takes trust to have the patience to wait. I have to be able to trust that God loves me so much that He cannot give me what I want now because it is not what will do me the most good.

His word says, "He works all things together for my good." (Romans 8:28) It also says that when we wait on the Lord in a way that's honoring to Him we can have the abundant life (John 10:10) filled with joy and peace. Who doesn't want that kind of life especially as opposed to a life of sadness and chaos.

Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.
Psalm 27:14

No one whose hope is in you will ever be put to shame, but they will be put to shame who are treacherous without excuse.
Psalm 25:3

Wait for the LORD and keep his way. He will exalt you to inherit the land; when the wicked are cut off, you will see it.
Psalm 37:34

 Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him.
Psalm 62:5

I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in his word I put my hope.
 Psalm 130:5

The LORD is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him;
 Lamentations 3:25

Well said sister!!! I'm reminded of Sara who didn't wait for God but circumvented Him and manipulated situations. Betcha she wished in the end that she could go back and just wait patiently. I also love the pictures. They help tell the story :)
