New Years Thoughts

I was thinking the other day, no day is wasted being a mommy. I mean even on a bad day a mom still has a job to do and it is an important one at that. Then, my thoughts turned to that no day should be wasted as a Christian either. I, like a lot of people my age, read "Don't Waste Your Life" by Piper when I was in college and it inspired me to think about my perspective on life.

Well, here I am today, thinking about my new years resolution. I am definitely a goal oriented "type A" person. I like goals; I like the feeling of reaching for something and accomplishment. That being said, the Lord has done a mighty work in my heart and life this year; some things that I have not yet shared and maybe will someday but I feel Him leading my heart in a different direction on goals for the year 2011.

I read a post by Kelly the other day that really touched my heart. She said she was not making any resolutions this year. She said that her goal was to make it through the day. I started thinking, "You know what, that is a great goal!" The Lord used that blog post to speak to me and say that this year I should live one day at a time. I know that sounds so simple but it is a great reminder for me that I don't need to worry about tomorrow but that God has it taken care of!

Also, this morning at church our pastor said a great goal for the year 2011 would be to love Jesus. Seems simple, but in this world where we have everything we could ever want and we think we need more, just loving Jesus and knowing that He is enough can be a challenge.

These two things helped confirm in my life that my goal for 2011 is to make it day by day loving Jesus. It is a challenging season in life. I am not saying that for you to feel sorry for me or because I don't enjoy my life. I just know that for me, in this year, 2011 that perfect suits my life and pleases God.

These past three months, the Lord has given me a new love and desire and respect for His word and so I will leave his post with some scriptures I want to mark this year.

“Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” -Psalm 20:9

"Yes, Lord, walking in the ways of your laws, we wait for you; your name and renown are the desire of our souls." Isaiah 26:8

So do not worry, saying, "What will we do??" For the people who do not follow God run after all these things (worldy things) and your Father knows what you need. But seek first His kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow (or even the next minute or hour) because tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Paraphrase of Matthew 6:31-34
